An abstract gathering of flamingos with a whimsical and playful energy. The body, necks and heads are made with several hundred pieces of sea glass, hand-picked from beaches and shores of Lake Erie. Flamingo pink, coral, and peach pink color is permanently applied by tinting each piece with alcohol ink and finished to protect from UV light with a matte acrylic finishing spray. The flamingo beaks are made from stones found on Edgewater beach in Cleveland, painted black and UV protected with a clear acrylic spray. The legs are pieces of fallen twigs cut to size and sprayed with gloss clear coat for a “wet” appearance. The water is painted with broad acrylic strokes, glass beads for sun reflection, and gloss varnish over water strokes and glass beads.
